Enrichment Opportunities

A database resource to help students locate summer enrichment programs in medicine.

The AISES Internship Program provides students with applied work experience and an opportunity to explore career options. Placing students in 10-week summer positions with partner agencies, the program also promotes advanced study to the graduate level and assists students in developing professional networks. 

The Biostatistics Epidemiology Summer Training Diversity Program (BEST) was established to expand and diversify the behavioral and biomedical sciences’ workforce by introducing undergraduates from underrepresented populations to biostatistics and cardiovascular and pulmonary disease research. Students representing racial and ethnic minority groups, disadvantaged backgrounds, and students with disabilities join the Department of Biostatistics at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health’s for eight weeks of research, training, academic and career planning, and social activities around New York City.

These programs, which vary widely in nature, provide a supportive environment in which to enhance your preparation for a career in medicine, dental medicine, research, and other health-related fields. In addition, most of the programs provide generous stipends and housing expenses.

HCC offers talented, diverse undergraduate and recent college graduates a comprehensive paid summer internship program that provides invaluable experience, mentoring, and networking in the health care field.

Med Prep is a summer program for American Indian college upperclassmen and graduates who are preparing to take or retake the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) and apply to medical school. Instructors lead group and individual tutoring sessions on biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, behavioral science, and critical analysis and reasoning. Students take weekly practice MCAT tests.

The Newton Summer Internship Program (NSIP) is designed for college students who are considering applying to medical school or any health profession.

Summer Explore Health Professions at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) in Claremont, CA, is a two-week program consisting of personalized advising, conversations with various healthcare professionals, and guest speakers from different graduate health programs to help students better understand the many options available.

The Summer Research Early Identification Program (SR-EIP) is a fully paid summer internship that provides undergraduates with training and mentoring in the principles underlying the conduct of research and prepares them to pursue competitive applications to PhD or MD-PhD programs.
