Want to stand out as a Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) applicant? Check out some of our information sessions to become a standout applicant!

Although these resources are intended to assist SHPEP applicants, many of the tips discussed can be applied when preparing an application to health professions schools.

Steps to Success with the SHPEP Application

Just hearing about SHPEP? During this session, you will learn more about the program from the SHPEP National Program Office and program alums.

How to Stand Out as an SHPEP Applicant

If you are wondering how to make your SHPEP application stand out, you are not alone. Completing your application is the first of many critical steps to a career in the health professions. During this webinar, you will hear the ultimate strategies to make your application stand out from our University of Washington and Western University of Health Sciences program sites.

Making Your SHPEP Personal Statement Stand Out

The personal statement is a crucial part of SHPEP applications. It’s your chance to show what makes you unique. In around 600 words, you have to convince your chosen program that you are the best applicant and that they should make you an offer immediately. These words are a crucial part of your application and a chance for consideration, so your personal statement needs to be good. Really good. During this session, the University of Nebraska Medical Center SHPEP program site will share tips on writing a truly outstanding piece.

How to Ask for a Letter of Recommendation

Deciding who is the right person to write you a letter of recommendation can be intimidating. This session, led by the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston program site, highlights why this letter is important, who you should ask to write it, how to develop relationships with faculty so that both of you will feel comfortable with the process, and what to consider a strong letter.
