Diversity in the health professions is key to advancing innovation and broadening access to care in the United States. Efforts to support health professions students are critical to developing the next generation of diverse and culturally responsive leaders in health care. Mentoring has been shown to be instrumental in the success of students who are traditionally underrepresented in the health professions.
SHPEP is collaborating with MentorNet to help health science students navigate the path to becoming a health profession by offering mentorships. We are seeking MDs, DOs, DDS, and DMDs to join the MentorNet Community for Health Sciences and Careers to mentor health science students.
Mentors and mentees communicate conveniently by phone, email, text, or video chat. The time commitment is approximately 20 minutes per week.
